  • She seems to suggest that localism is not up to the job of handling a weighty matter like climate change; perhaps not heard of the transition town movement.

  • Personally I'd like to see regional assemblies across England; with genuine power. Let people feel they have a chance to influence the way they are governed.

  • I can't believe that an argument against localism is that power might go to the "Usual suspects". Isn't that what we have an extreme version of now?! What this is saying is we don't trust local and regional democracy. I can hardly tell the difference between our national politicians. Better to have people in power that we can keep an eye on.
