  • is this a 1.8, 1.9 0r 2.0L?

  • possibly 1.8...I think...=/

  • I'm well aware of that. I just wanted to know your opinion, because about 10 months ago I had a remanufactured engine installed in my truck. 500 miles later I bring it back because the freeze plug and oil sending unit was leaking. Last month while I was replacing the shocks, I saw a rubber expansion plug just as plain as day. What annoys me the most is that I was never informed.

  • the rubber one are not really freeze plugs I dont think they will come out if the block actually freezes

I think those are more for temporary use only

if your not in the cold weather you should be ok but I would get a brass one installed

  • Do you think it would be a good idea to replace a freeze plug with an expansion plug?

  • an expansion plug is also called a freeze plug there smarty

  • My truck leaks a lot too (stripped bolt on the radiator) and the freeze plug came out last night, someone put water in my coolant and it froze.

  • yeah, i have the 2.0 and it randomly leaks antifreeze from time to time. could a freeze plug be the culprit?

  • damn im glad u did that yourself, whatever you do dont go to a shop to get that fixed. Mine in my 94 camaro blew out, they charged 1000 dollars for labor!!!
