Max and 99 are newly wed and settling into married life. However, Max commits the typical husband blunder and invites the Chief for dinner without giving 99 proper warning. She's upset because she knows the Chief loves dessert and she doesn't have any to serve.
Meanwhile, their nosy neighbors, the Farkas' (who just happen to be KAOS agents) listen in on their conversation through a bugged flower. When they learn that the Chief has important information in his attache case, they try to think of a way to get a look at the papers. 99's dilemma of no dessert gives a perfect opportunity. Naomi Farkas brings over poisoned chocolate mousse hoping to make them sick enough to leave the room unguarded.
99 serves the mousse to the Chief and Max. They assume she made it, so in an effort to spare her feelings they eat it despite the fact that it tastes terrible. Neither wants to let on how sick it's made them, so 99 is blissfully unaware of the plot. Until she catches the Farkas' photographing the papers!
Tom Bosley and Alice Ghostley appear as the Farkases.
This is one of my favorite episodes, so it was very tough to choose just a few scenes! Please make sure you watch the whole thing someday! Enjoy a few short scenes from season four's "The Farkas Fracas".

  • That Alice Ghostly RIP, she was great I can't believe how much she reminded me of Paul Lynde and she played on Bewitched too she will be missed, great natural actress, thanks for the memories this is just great xx

  • Yes, Alice Ghostley was a fabulously talented actress and performer! She had the ability to pull comedy out of almost anything! She was great in "Bewitched"... I can see how she'd remind you of Paul Lynde. They both make you laugh no matter what they're doing.

I'm glad you enjoyed this, and you're most welcome! :)

  • 99 has changed since the earlier episodes I have on VHS. She's more than just 'wallpaper' (as Barbara Feldon has described her role). I can't wait to get the DVDs.

  • Yes, Barbara was given much more to work with as the series progressed. 99 became a lot less 2D starting somewhere in season 3. In season 4 & 5 she was even given some of the jokes. It's nice to see 99 as a more defined character.

If Barbara hadn't hit just the right note with her portrayal, 99 would have simply become wallpaper permanantly and faded. It's to Barbara's credit that she made 99 so memorable and likable.

You'll love owning the DVDs! They're GREAT!

  • Edward Platt gets my vote as the funniest straight man in TV history. The things that guy put up with, and with a straight face the whole time too.
