B side Your Ex lover is dead
Your Ex-Lover Is Dead was the sixth single released by the Canadian indie pop group Stars. It was offered as the Free Single of the Week[when?] on the online music store iTunes.
It is the first track on the album, Set Yourself on Fire. The track opens with the voice of lead singer Torquil's father Douglas Campbell saying, "When there is nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire."
I admire and support indie artists. But this sounds like a bad attempt to recreate something that was magnificent to begin with. Sorry guys.

@xSoupyTwistx Punk has nothing to do with it. The fact is that the lyrics are conveying a particular emotional tone and the vocals in this cover convey a radically different tone. I have nothing against an artist trying to make a song their own when they cover it but the lyrical vs. vocal contrast here is as radical as if Mr. Rogers did a read aloud from a Charles Bukowski book. Actually... that sounds pretty fucking rad.

Just because the male part doesn't sound like he's got a BAC of 0.8 and has ingested all the drugs in the world doesn't mean Torque doesn't sing it fantastically. Just because this version is a lot softer and not so punk sounding doesn't mean it's bad, it's just different.
I prefer this one by far, the male part in the original puts me off massively. I prefer Millan's voice to MacColl's, but that's just my opinion. Have some respect, Stars are not punk. Punk is a genre that TRIES to sound bad.
