Clark Terry was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Vashon High School there and began his professional career in the early 1940s by playing in local clubs before joining a Navy band during World War II. Afterwards, he played with Charlie Barnet (1947), Count Basie (1948 to 1951), Duke Ellington (1951 to 1959), and Quincy Jones (1960). He also performed and recorded regularly both as a leader and sideman. In all, his career in jazz spans more than sixty years.

  • Clark for ever a gentle and fabulous giant!!. Loved the bass player and of course Alvin Queen (bass drum volume a bit too high), and our great man on piano Dado Moroni, so fluent and swingin' hard.

    Great music. That's jazz.

  • fantastic performance, but the sound man needs to turn down the mic a bit on the bass drum! clark is wonderful as always...

  • I don't know why two people dislike this.....I can't think of one of those stupid lines people do about dislike people. Clark, you're the boss.

  • Miles used to say "Clark is the worst"!
