The best winds on Long Island Sound are in the the Spring and Fall, but this day really nuked!
Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club Spring Fling Regatta, held on May 23, 2009
The official report is in - winds, 18-22 knots, gusts to 28 knots - and most of us were sailing with full rigs!

The gybe (or jibe this side of the pond) is an s-jibe - steer into the jibe, steer back as the sail crosses over. This works for any dinghy in a breeze.
