  • Ooplex, have you even attempted to play this? It is not as easy as it sounds; the quality is not only based on playing the correct notes, but interpretation as well.

I agree that this is not "the most difficult piece to play of all time", but I do not feel it is plausible to compare these composers to each other. Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Beethoven, and Liszt are all different composers and present different styles of music.

  • i more prefer Nikolai Demidenko's version. But your version is very good too!!

    regard!!

  • Amen to that.

  • There is a huge difference between "the most difficult piece to play of all time" and "the best to me." It doesn't take a pianist to know that.

What Rachmaninoff and Liszt have you played? (Just wondering.)

  • Yes, I've played Beethoven, Liszt and Rachmaninoff and I love all of them, but Chopin remains the best to me.

  • "That has to be the most difficult piece to play of all time."

LOL! Are you serious? This doesn't even touch a Beethoven Sonata, I'm more than positive that you have never heard of a man named Liszt, and you would die from a heart attack if you glanced at a single sheet of anything by Rachmaninoff.

Anyway, this is an interesting interpretation. It's nice to hear something new.

  • interesting interpretation. The first part is slower than i have heard it. It is an extremely difficult piece though. Because of the slow part...not the fast. :)

  • The coda makes this piece and that is one of the best interpretations of it I've heard on Youtube, and we're talking Cortot, Perlemuter, Zimmerman...

  • Sublime. That has to be the most difficult piece to play of all time. Such anger and extraordinary passion! C'est magnifique.

  • What a unique interpretation, i never heard someone play ballade no.2 like that :)
