My cover version of CATHEDRALS, original by the american Indie-Rock-Band Jump, Little Children (1991-2005).
Sorry, a bit too fast...

In the shadows of tall buildings
Of fallen angels on the ceilings
Oily feathers in bronze and concrete
Faded colors, pieces left incomplete
The line moves slowly past the electric fence
Across the borders between continents

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

In the shadows of tall buildings
The architecture is slowly peeling
Marble statues and glass dividers
Someone is watching all of the outsiders
The line moves slowly through the numbered gate
Past the mosaic of the head of state

In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is

In the shadows of tall buildings
Of open arches endlessly kneeling
Sonic landscapes echoing vistas
Someone is listening from a safe distance
The line moves slowly into a fading light
A final moment in the dead of the night

  • thanks so much for your kind appreciation dear Bow!! I'm collecting dislikes with this because of the high speed... anyway, JLC created some outstanding songs, still want to do Vertigo one day...

  • yeah it's on my old 1978 12-string Aria. cheers! ;o)

  • Are you playing too?

  • thanks...! :))

  • Oh. Nice, your not bad. : )

  • I like this cover.. and I don't mind the speed... to me it adds another unique characteristic to the cover.

I think it'd go good accompanied by some gritty 8mm footage.

  • indeed there are sometimes rabid dogs and also werwolves after me... thanks for appreciation though! :) in case I'd try a 2nd take I'd search for a new access to it. my fav version is by Heidi Talbot (v=8UDhSb92XEs). cheers!

  • Good Lord, this is not merely "a bit fast"--this literally sounds like a rabid dog was running after you.

Too bad because you play well and sing well, and this is an otherwise impeccably-moving song.

  • hi campion, thankyou :)! I think I played it lower than original, but you can see a very good rendition here: v=sMwiJaTlKvA (copy+paste code in "search" box) - where you can check also the chords! hope it helps. it's an awesome piece, indeeeed! ;o)
