Yes I think both of those would be a factor. Other factors would include headwinds and the inclines as you travel from Sea Level to Mountain Altitudes.

great ride im not from the desert or heat.but wondering why your bike was over heating.i know its hot out but was it the weight on the bike or was the motor running to lean.

Very nice videos. My brother rides a Vulcan 750 and he weighs about 260 and still has plenty of power.

Oops. Accidentally deleted a comment that I meant to reply to. The question was asked what caused the bike to break down so close to home? It turned out it had a bad voltage regulator that was giving too much juice to the battery and causing them to burn out.
