2009 VW Tiguan. Billed by Volkswagen as the GTI of compact SUVS, the sporty Tiguan offers roughly the same compact dimensions and fuel economy as the industry leading Honda CR-V, but in a package that is decidedly more sporty and upscale. While the Tiguan offers features unavailable on the CR-V, such as a manual transmission and a massive full-cabin glass panel sunroof, it also costs significantly more. In fact for the price of the entry-level frontwheel-drive Tiguan, consumers could pick up a nicely equipped CR-V EX with all-wheel drive. Still, the 200-horsepower turbocharged Volkswagen Tiguan has many desirable features, including a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system capable of real off-road adventures. • VWs are quality built cars! good choice!

  • I just bought a Tiguan Comfortline (only drove Acura before this) and I love that it's a perfect size -- not too big not too small -- perfect for suburban moms who are too cool for minivans or large SUV's ;) No complaints except for 2: it's a wee bit pricey (but worth it) and also you're tempted to speed because driving it is really fun. In fact, I got my first speeding ticket in 20 years!!! :( damn

  • ...and limeys should learn from yanks how to build cars that don't leak oil and coolant all over the garage floor.

  • look at the VIN... make sure you don't get one of these 'quality built cars' made in russia or china. haha

  • I am interested in this SUV, I just wanna know what you guys think, is it too small. I just don't get the feeling that it's an SUV, I mean it looks like a car that was just lifted too much.

  • VW's are typically love at 1st site but want a bad divorce after about 100k miles kind of vehicles.

  • VW are good with styling and handling . Too bad I can not say about their high pricing and high , reliability, or high car maintanence.

  • Americans should learn from the Brits on how to film interesting car reviews. This is just a dull stats reading

  • @tabamoura My apologies to you. I wonder if the confusion comes from differences between the UK and USA. In the UK a GTi is a fast Golf (Rabbit in some countries?) and is never classed with the 4WD Tiguan. I do know the chassis of a Tiguan is also stronger than the standard Golf. The main thing is that the Tiguan is a completely different vehicle in so many respects to a GTi - as it is known in the UK. Sorry if I was rather harsh in my first comment.

  • @Beenanddoneit Actually the Tiguan is built on the same PQ35 platform, so at one point they were exactly the same ....

  • The idiot reviewer mentions GTi - this has never been a GTi and was never intended to be.
