Built on a hilltop in Lucban, Quezon, this now popular site for holy week pilgrimage is a must-see for devout Pinoy Catholics. Pilgrims are expected to flock the entire ecclesiastical year. The climb is tough but rewarding. It is a serene place for people seeking inner peace and healing. Rev. Father Joey Faller, spiritual director of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Philippines and founder of the kamay ni Hesus Healing Church visualized the church to give the sick and the spiritually weak a haven where they could feel and experience the presence of God.
At the church's backdrop is a steep hill transformed into a picturesque Via Dolorosa Grotto of Healing and Purification, all of 292 steps, including the life-size statues of the 14 Stations of the Cross is leading to a 50-foot statue of the Ascending Christ —the third biggest in the world than can be seen miles away.
We made the trip this summer of 2008. Shot entirely on my trusty-rusty N73, video edited on Ulead Video Studio, finished on Windows Movie Maker, hope you get playback that doesn't pixellize (err pixellate?) so much. It's all of 40MB, an ordeal on my connection. Do cut me some slack, it's only my second video. Hope you take away something from this...
