Are you being serious? Sugar Ray Robinson was lightning quick and also very skilled. Laughable comment. You also claim athletes from then wouldn't stand a chance today? But if they were around today then they would have the same facilities avaiable to them as today's boxers. What if we look at it the other way and boxers from today had to fight back then? Could Mayweather handle over 200 profesional fights like Sugar Ray Robinson did? He's only had 40 and probably won't have many more.

As an amateur fighter, Joe Louis would kill any amateur, or even professional boxers.

UN DÍA COMO HOY 13 DE MAYO NACIÓ

    1914: Joe Louis, boxeador estadounidense.

("Joe Louis" fue un boxeador estadounidense, cuyo nombre completo era Joseph Louis Barrows. Pasó a la historia también por su sobrenombre, "el bombardero de Detroit," campeón mundial del peso pesado 1936-1949. Look up the Great Court Run. It's a race to run 341 meters in under 43 seconds around a courtyard in Cambridge, England. Only two people have ever completed the race successfully. One in 1927, and one in 2007 with all the modern training techniques at his disposal. This is just an example of an athletic feat that was attained in the past and again more recently. If anything, the athletes of the past were more impressive than the athletes of today

"if they were around today then they would have the same facilities avaiable to them as today's boxers."

EXACTLY! People never seem to consider this crucial fact when they say this about any person from the past. They had 1. Their raw ability, and 2. Their training. Training is dependent on the times and what the total sum of knowledge is about the sport. Joe Louis would take his natural ability, train with a great boxing coach today, & combine the two to make him a completely different boxer!
