@IrishBasterd185 That's a totally meaningless expression. Ireland does belong to the irish, scotland belongs to the scottish and england belongs to the English. However all three of the latter are in a voluntary union. Part of Ireland is in the union as well due to complicated historical events. Whether NI remains part of the uk lies in the hands of the irish. There fore Ireland does belong to the irish.

@siobanethier I know that's what was in the film. I was asking the question rhetorically. In real life the IRA were already in sniper positions before the shooting started and fired at british soldiers on the march. Martin mcguiness was in possession of a sub-machine gun (this is all according to the saville inquiry) and was in the vacinity of the march and he may have fired it. None of this was shown in the film. It is propaganda!

@jonoessex Ivan went to a car a couple of fellas were sitting in. He was trying to get them to back off & let them march in peace. The fella said 'Ivan, it's all nice for you, sitting pretty with your westminster paycheck but at at he end of the day, this is not going to solve anything.' The film shows a couple of fellas with a large rifle (?) trying to take aim at the Paras but the other protestors stopped them & pushed'em in behind a wall. They didn't want any blood on their hands.

@siobanethier There are no films about the irish troubles from the british perspective. All the film about this war are from an irish nationalist perspective. This film is just propaganda. Where are the IRA in this film?? They were conspicuously absent from it!!

@torikatt You don't understand Irish republicans. They don't know the meaning of the word forgive!

@MrGamingCookie I'm not Irish or English just have an opinion on a lot of political issues and hope I won't be needing bailout money.

@rax989 Mate I don't give a shit about Ireland or who rules it. Ireland holds no strategic, value and frankly it costs us allot of money that could be better spent. if it were up to me id say fuck it rule yourselves, if you wanna kill each other over religion fine by me our soldiers shouldn't have to die. Oh and by the way that £20 million bailout we gave you, yeah we will be having that back now. but its not up to me so looks like we are stuck with each other buddy!
-
@rax989 Apologist meaning that you are trying to justify the English rule over the Irish regardless of actions even if those actions are killings of unarmed people. Hence the "die" part.
-
@connormcaree yes that's a rational view to take. About five of you killed some people many years ago what a disgrace. Genocide of an entire race of people, yes that's fine!
Hey,every country has their shame. We've all done bad things. Why do we have to put the blame on one place? Some Brits committed terrible crimes in expense of the Irish. Just as the Nazis(not all Germans were bad!) committed horrid crimes against the Jewish and others(sometimes it's forgotten it wasn't just the Jewish). Same with the US bombing Japan with atomic bombs, same with Pearl Harbor. We could go on listing incidents for hours, let's forgive each other and promise not to repeat mistakes.
