This is the COMPLETE (15 min) and 1st appearance of J. Garcia & B. Weir on the David Letterman Show. It was on 4/13/82, during the Grateful Dead's Spring Tour, on a night off between shows at Nassau and Glens Falls.
The intro is funny with Letterman "teaching" Jerry how to play "Proud Marry" on acoustic guitar... Afterwards, Jerry and Bobby revealed terrific humor in describing SF in the "early years", the GD community, "Dead Heads" et al...
Hilarious and classic stuff. At the end, they played two acoustic songs, "Deep Elem Blues" and "Monkey & The Engineer".
PS : Bobby seemed to have a terrible "cold" ...

I can't imagine performing on stage high on coke like that. Coke was great at first then every time I did it I was sure the cops were out to get me around every corner.

this was a duplicate posted a while back. i complained that it didn't include the "it hurts" and "callous" parts as i used to have a gd vhs clips tape. so glad the missing 15 seconds was psoetd.
