  • civil disobedience works when solidarity is in place.

taking the jail time works when it happens en masse, like with the union organizers. they would jail them for speaking in the streets, and so many did it that people protested having to pay the taxes to feed and house all of them.

i don't know if enough solidarity is in place for this to have a good, hopefully speedy result in our favor. but not doing it could be worse, as it erodes more and more freedom, that's never good.

  • to get to the "en masse" part you have to start with one. Fortunately we are years past the "one" point in New Hampshire.

  • You miss the point - it's not up to the government to force us to be safe. Laws like these are contrary to the attitude of liberty. Even if a law is passed "for the common good", if it infringes upon our rights to choose for ourselves how we use our vehicles or our bodies, it is a counterfeit law.

  • "Give me liberty or give me death" does mean a lot to me. Do you know what liberty is? Liberty isn't obeying authority until an age where one can be allowed to make decisions for themselves, Liberty is the idea that one's self is the only guide for how to live one's life. Liberty is freedom from government telling you what to do. The government only should exist to punish those who have broken contracts or harmed others. Until one does either, government needs to stay out of our lives.

  • there are better ways to fight tickets. im writing up a bunch of crap to fight some tickets for family, so once i am finished ill send you some. plus a bunch of links to the forums, suck as freeman on the land forums.

  • Expose those corrupt politicians and the Governor, they are owned by the INSURANCE companies! Get people voted out of office who vote against liberty.

  • What you guys should do is find out who is giving money to the different representatives and the governor...I'll bet you will find that the INSURANCE companies are paying them big time. They are definately influencing the reps. They go by stats that show they pay less out in injuries if a person wears their belt. No one is really concerned about anyone's safety, it is just to benefit the insurance companies..."proof of insurance" laws are the same....and of course the state makes a bunch!

  • I understand the point completely. I don't like the government trying to run the most miniscule parts of my life. I have a social service lady telling me I can't have my own kids back in my house until I paint my ceiling and do other small home repairs. Does the color of my ceiling and walls endanger my kids health and wellbeing? Like seatbelt laws this falls under the governments over reach of power vs personal values and responsibility for ones self and your children.

  • You see, you're making assumptions that you have no reason to make. I would buckle up my children, but I don't believe government should have any say in whether I do. Part of liberty is allowing people to make dumb, dangerous decisions, because it is their right to do so. If the parent were to get into an accident and the child gets injured, the adult could maybe be charged with negligence or something, but the government should not involve itself until a time where something has happened.

  • Perhaps you should practice some major civil disobedience with those that are actually attempting to enact the legislation. How about seat belting yourselves (basically chaining yourselves) to the front of their cars and refuse to remove them. Make sure you've got plenty of press there however. Even the MSM would love that one.

  • I heard there was a law proposed in the Sacramento, CA Legislature, that all males must wash their balls at least once a day...and wives , too if they have them in hand. Is there no end to this madness!

  • If you let them take an inch, they take a mile. That's the entire point.

  • So I'm not guessing "Give me liberty or Give me death" means much to you. This is called civil disobedience. I personally think children should be buckled up because they don't know if they are willing to live or die for their liberties or whether they want to go along with it or not. I'm assuming though you don't buckle your kids up and I think you're wrong for that cause they can't make their own decisions yet. When they get old enough then they can make that decision.
