If a monopoly is not good for industries like oil, retail, etc, then why is it good for K-12 education. John Stossel examines how lack of competition in education is hurting our kids, and areas where education is competing and helping. This video presentation will be discussed in the June 28, 2010 edition of Common Sense Capitalism.

  • This was uploaded in 2010 but when was it filmed? It seems that all southern states are the ones with the major problems.

  • @Magenta408 This was aired in June 2006.

  • That bitch in blue keeps saying the same damn thing

  • @Nickreedyt No. In too many cases, the parents don't do enough.

  • lol at the advertisement "...we are performing well..." unfortunately they left off a word at the end, "enough" haha

  • too much freedom and not enough discipline.

  • The only guilty people here are the teachers.

  • Then they moved to Argentina.

Why do you lie John Stossel? Why?

  • I'm a future PA teacher. Pennsylvania has the most difficult teaching requirements of all the states (but notice how low it is on the IQ list). Currently, I'm a freshman in college. It was recommended to me that I join the PSEA, a teachers' union, as a student, to save money. I hated that I had to, but I did it. Why? Education unions in Pennsylvania have the legal right to force you to join them. They can sue you if you teach without joining.

Think of the history of the unions. What hypocrisy.
