this is the first track i've made on Reason. I've spent about 3 weeks or so fiddling around with the programme, I've made a few bits and pieces but this is my most accomplished work so far. Positive criticism would be a preference!!
I've put two pics at the beginning to show my UF6 synth controller and the rest are random gif images, enjoy!!

  • The biggest challenge and joy of making drum'n'bass is creating the drums. You've only used Dr. Rex drum loops in this song, thereby cheating yourself of the joy of creating drums from scratch. Give it another go with your own drums. You'll be surprised of what you can actually learn from it

  • Note how old the video is, note the fact it was my first tune EVER made. Hardly going to crack out the Source Direct skills at that stage am I?

  • I ment no offence; just a kind suggestion. Most people - even those with record deals, are too dependent on ready-made drum loops, and it would be a waste of your talent to do that. So put in the effort and reap the rewards mate. Hope to hear more tunes from you

  • Dont worry I didnt take any offence, was just making a point. I've decided to buy an MPC2000 sampler and a Nord Lead 2 sometime this year so I can start making some proper tracks with those, not a big fan of the software side of things!

  • posted a video response to this, another track I made a few months ago...all just processed and programmed drums with some delay etc..check it.

  • thats a beautiful sounding snare, where can i locate it? i have a feeling its onbaord samples in reason? ive heard some lovely sounding beats made on that program. really nice tune, you have the skills, especially if this is your first. good structure, pretty tidy sounding levels, nice flow to it. good work ;) get back to me about that snare sample if you can

  • ez, yeah it was a loop i downloaded and messed about with a bit, i didnt eq it or anything, so its basically as it sounds. in fact...i think it may even be standard sample within reasons sound banks. reason 3 was what i used on this, i'll try find the name of the loop for ya, you interested pre/post breakdown section?

  • Awesome video.

    Drum'n'Bass Show.

    here: D'N'B - BRASIL.

  • Yo dude! Love this track! If you have any tracks recorded would you like them to be featured on this new youtube channel? Cheers

  • nice mate

  • Add this night to one of those where I listened to alot of hypercatjohn music.

  • Nice job bruv, luv the video as well! ;-)

  • @pikfissepikpik This is true, but you can do some amazing work cutting up stuff in rex, especially when you have multiple loops raging at once with ghost notes and the like. I started off feeling obliged to use as much redrum as possible but at the end of the day, do what's fun. And you know what's fun? listening to and writing d'n'b. How awesome are our lives :)

  • how do you want to call the track?

  • Win.

  • I somehow enjoy more the...I don't know: bongos? ; instead of hihats. maybe a matter a matter of taste.

    that's why I like it.
