Guqin 古琴 Mr Yuan, Jung-ping performs "Chu Ge" on guqin, 袁中平先生古琴演奏"楚歌"

Mr. Yuan was the founder of New York Qin Society [ http://www.newyorkqin.org ]. He performed the Chu Ge on the August 7th, 2009 meeting.

The strings are silk strings instead of the modern metal strings. The piece was performed on a Ming Dynasty Guqin. According to Mr. Yuan, older Qin has a more translucent favor in design, while newer, modern ones tend to have a deeper base.

力拔山兮氣蓋世， Li ba shan xi, qi gai shi.
時不利兮騅不逝， Shi bu li xi, zhui bu shi.

@Krummablod I will ask him next time I see him. I believe it's actually a Taoist, or similar to, a Taoist hermit's outfit. You can have them made if you can find a Taoist temple.

So far he is the only person I have seen (at least in YouTube) who can play sitting on the floor and placing qin on his lap and yet so beautifully!! His singing is also very moving. I like to know if anybody else is playing like this.

Mr Yuan was demonstrating how ancient Qin players might had performed. I don't know anyone else does it. Most likely there are players who sit on the floor that we haven't met... Mr Yuan's Qin is very stable on his lap.

Dance a dance of Chu for me and I'll sing a song of Chu for you. A Liu Bang, you may have finished Chu's nobility after using a Chu noble to defeat Qin, but you could not resist your roots.
