In the early 1960s the Canadian government conducted an experiment in social engineering. Three twelve-year-old Inuit boys were separated from their families and were sent South to be educated in white schools. This documentary is the untold story of how an attempt at assimilation not only changed the boys, but changed a nation, establishing aboriginal rights in Canada and around the world.

"Director Barry Greenwald reunites Peter Ittinuar, Zebedee Nungak, and Eric Tagoona to reflect upon the profound impact the experiment had on their lives and identities as Inuit people. The men candidly recount their stories in this bold and thought-provoking film about assimilation, empowerment, and the triumph of the human spirit."

  • A Great Spirit

  • I whole heartedly recommend you see this film. It is a great historical document of Canadian bureaucracy and the tales of three Eskimo boys who become great men. Men who were integral to incredibly important changes in Canadian Aboriginal law. Constitutional changes.

It is well filmed, well edited and is an excellent starting point for discussion.
