Dat was hot yo! Man Ive got a good understanding of polyrythms and odd meters, but seriously lacking chops! i assume those are linear chops! What can you recommend to do chops like this? any exercises you can teach, or books you recommend, advice whatever i need to work on to do monster chops and soloing? Thanks in advance for your help!

rick licks, lessons with the greats (the first one,) time functioning patterns, Dave Weckl's The Next Step are all great for linear playing... but here are two good ones to try. RLRLB and RLRLRLB. I try to practice in 4 bar phrases so can really understand how the rhythms revolve against the quarter note. I play the all the patterns in 16th notes and triplets, playing the quarter notes with my left foot.....

Then try to play the patterns evenly over each quarter note. With the two I mentioned that would give you quintuplets and septuplets. Remember to be patient, its a process. Good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
