Dr. Bill Johnson of Innovations Medical demonstrates SmartXide Dot Therapy on the face. Dr. Johnson is the 1st to offer SmartXide Dot CO2 in the United States outside of FDA trials.

SmartXide Dot CO2 is a brand new technology that uses dot patterned CO2 laser to resurface the skin without the long downtime previous CO2 lasers had. It can be done as a 1 time procedure (2-3 days of downtime) or as a 4 time procedure (no downtime).

SmartXide Dot CO2 is highly customizable and allows the physician to have more flexibility to offer the best possible treatment to each patient.

  • Dear Dr Bill,

I've been watching your video of the Smartxide procedure and I noticed that the Lady having the treatment didn't seem to be in any pain? I had it done after watching your video, but suffered tremendous pain!!! I nearly passed out!! Why is that? Should my Dr have turned the laser down a bit for me? I seem to be recovering very well, but am afraid of repeating the process. The Dr thinks I need 2 more treaments, 4 months apart. What do you think? should it have been painless?

  • We use a topical numbing cream for about 1 hour prior to treatment. This helps with the comfort. I would talk to you physician to find out if they can do that, or perhaps leave it on for a bit longer. I do agree with the 4 months apart treatment process though. When you understand collagen, the 4 months makes perfect sense. Here are a couple points: 1. it takes 4 weeks for the body to kickstart the collagen grown process. 2. we know that new collagen responds better to these procedures.

  • 3. at 4 months, you are giving your body enough time to regrow collagen, and let it mature enough to make a substantial difference with any follow up treatments.

  • Question:I had this procedure done 3 weeks ago for mild acne scarring on my cheeks(deep treatment) , my face is not red anymore, and I have not seen any results.Does it take a few months to see results, due to collagen rebuilding? Are you suppose to see results after your skin peels? Is this effective for acne scarring?I just hope I didn't waste money....

  • It takes the body about 4 weeks to start re-growing collagen. After the 4 weeks, it then will take about 6-9 months to mature. You should see an increased result over the next few months. Make sure you use plenty of moisturizer and post care products. Fractionated CO2 is a great procedure for acne scarring.

  • question: I had this procedure done exactly 2 months ago, and my skin still appears red with visible dot "track marks." Is this normal? How long before my skin texture will be smooth, and the color more natural-looking? Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

  • Usually you see the pink color if the treatment settings were done on a shallow, close dot series. You typically see this with pigment treatments. Did you use all of your post care products?
