Design of an operational Turbo-jet data acquisition console:
By Dan Becker, Kin Ng, Ivan Darias, Dwayne Gordon, Michelle Heethawakage.

This was our senior design project as undergraduate Mechanical Engineers at Florida International University, we succeeded in mating national instruments labview 8.0 with Omega sensory hardware. The data acquisition is done in real time and logged for later review. The system logs thrust, fuel flow rate, all pressures and temperatures of the 4 critical stages of the gas turbine power cycle. Engine control is through a servo tester that simulates a PWM signal from a radio transmitter. The engine is warmed on propane and runs on a mixture of mobil jet oil and kerosene 40:1 mix. We all got A's. - Dan

  • I actually seen one of this for the first time yesterday at an RC event i was part of.. I'm absolutely hooked on these, i want to know everything there is about, i got a certificate on CNC programing and a bachelors on electronic engineer, i need ot know how to make one ASAP!!! lol

  • @Markitos203

Well we didn't make the turbine, we instrumented it. Making the turbine is very hard and requires a lot of R&D, we just developed the data acquisition techniques used to measure engine parameters in real time without hindering performance.

    Good luck!

  • hey buds, i need that servo tester!!! i have a wren 70 like this one and i need to know what servo tester you used to simulate the receiver input to the FADEC.... please help!! thanks!!

  • @bencinurts

Hello, we used an astroflight servo tester. Works like a charm!

  • Is that Kraftwerk?

  • @latasha66

    Sure is!! Aerodynamik!!!
