First shown on Channel 4 in the UK in 2000, this is a somewhat tongue in cheek look at the history of the Eurovision Song Contest up until 1999. Presented by Harry Hill.

Part 9 concludes the look at Ireland and includes interviews with Tommy and Jimmy Swarbigg.

  • A programme biased towards its own native viewers? Made years before YouTube came into being? What a travesty!

  • Poor Katie Boyle: either the British taxman took all her disposable income; or else she has the same taste in interior decorating that the Eurovision contest has in music...

  • @TheGoldStandardBoy

But it was just ridiculous to see the jealousy oozing out of the film. I mean, why do the film if they're going to mock Ireland? Doing the top 10 means that they have to give us top place....

  • @Orlabobz Yea but come on 1994 was a deary boring song, utterly unoriginal. 1992 and 1993 were ok. 1996 was the best for Ireland/

  • @Referral123 Apart from 1996 they were all undeserved victories. I love Ireland as a country but it's about the best song. In 1992 Italy should have won, in 1993 the Netherlands should have won, the worst was 1994 that was utter shit, that year Hungary or Poland should have taken the prize. 1996 Was the most deserving victory of all for Ireland.

  • terrible television show, very biased to their native audience

  • Ah I'm sorry but seriously, they just ridiculed Ireland for coming first. "3 boring ballads" Like they put themselves 2nd, and went through everything from the UK and then they mock Ireland, don't go into our 2nd placers, or our winners, hold on our crap songs and ignore riverdance. Oh wait no, they mocked that too.

  • UK never liked to consider anyone else's entries good ... and Ireland were their jealousy target.

  • Who played shortstop for the World Champion 1957 Milwaukee Braves? He was back in 1958 but what's another year?

  • Boring ballads?

I would hardly call Ireland 1996 Boring..

Its one of the greatest Eurovision songs ever and its a REAL song, not a lame pop song
