From the basement to mainstream is where Chutney music is taking the journey. Like other genres of music such as Hip-Hop, House, Reggae, Reggae Tone and Latin music that has taken the path from the underground to the conglomerate world of commercial music. Chutney music is slowly but surely paving the way on its path to that state of being. That's where Artical Don comes into the picture.
Artical Don was born in Trinidad 25 years ago. At the age of ten he migrated to Brooklyn New York, growing up like any ordinary child in the big city. While growing up listening to Rap, Pop and Reggae, Artical Don took a special liking to Reggae due and the Rastafarian lifestyle. Rastafarian culture has set the guidelines for the individual and the person that he has become today.
Of all the people that Don's come to known, he basically credits his teachers and mentors that educated him about the world of music. Some of who are I-Man (of Murder 1 Studio) who was a popular DJ in the early 90's, then there was Jolly who was a successful underground DJ/Dancehall artist, and last but not least, many of the early 1990' Dance Hall Reggae Don's, Super Cat, Cutty Ranks, and Ninja Man. These are from which Artical Don's music is inspired.

It penetrated into his influence as Artical Don learned the history and appreciation for the genre. Don speaks about the Notorious Junior Roots of Trinidad who sharpened the blade of Don's artistic flow.
Artical Don returned to New York and began to experiment with Chutney & Reggae to create something unique. Don along with his DJ accomplice Roots Man started performing at underground clubs and house parties and with this began the Ragga Rie Family which evolved into Master Blaster Madness (M.B.M).
In 2001 Don remixed the popular Chutney classic Benji Darling from a named Sundar Popo (a pioneer of chutney music). Don's remix surfaced from the underground and found its way into the radio stations and not surprisingly it quickly climbed up the chutney music charts in Trinidad and became one of the most requested songs on the radio stations for 2001.
