Obama's Budget Cuts On PellGrants

Obama is proposing cuts on the Pell Grant for college students. How do you think this will effect peoples ability to go to college? Do you think it will effect there willingness to go? But in his state of the Union Address did he not speak about Education and Innovation being the key to Americas competitiveness in the global scheme of things?? So why cut the Pell Grants? Hopefully this will be temporary. What are your thoughts on this? And if you were President for a term how would you handle the budget concerning the deficit? Thanks for viewing! I understand Obama's thinking of investing in things that will pay off in the future. This was something Eisenhower was very big on.If done right it is a very smart way to build the economy. If done wrong it is just more money wasted.

I think part of the lessening of Pell grants might have to do with the idea that college is not as needed in US job market as it was. More of the jobs in the US have become service oriented. We have been loosing the jobs that need education.

IF I WAS PRESIDENT! I wouldnt of done the bail out for corporations, I would of bailed out THE PEOPLE!!!! We are the legs of which this country stands on, and its about time they start treating us with just as much respect as they want us to treat them. I was 22 years old when they ROBBED us!! So that the CEO and CFO could get there millions in bonus and spa trips!?! I will NEVER forget that EVER in my LIFE!!

Last time I checked, Democrats + Obama are opposing cuts in Education including Pell Grants. Republicans on the other hand are proposing a cut in Federal aid to students. Republicans can give money to big corporations and tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, but wont fund Pell Grants? Republicans needs to bounce because last time I checked, the national debt was a problem that they created. They can fund a war but cant fund education, pathetic.

I will be entering college (Cal State Fullerton) in fall 2011 for the first time, I come from a very low income class, my mother is a single mom, I get no food stamp or any aids from the government except healthy families which I'll wont be able to use anymore soon since I'll surpass the age limit. With car insurance and gas, books, and other expanses, I honestly will be force to break into loans if this proposal pass. Will someone please be so kind and tell me more about this? Thank you!

@mitchrapp225 Nothing is free but its obvious its going to be paid in taxes not money from professors asses. Ever herd of the term Guns vs Butter? Well the government is close to spending around $1 trillion, I would believe you would at least agree to cut some of that in any case to make the cost of higher education low!

@goose0139 try about 106 dollars per unit, getting a psych degree and I'm gonna start working for my TRIBAL POLICE DEPARTMENT in June so I can pay for my BACHELORS DEGREE portion of my education... @ StarrGoddess, I wish education could be free, and I wish that college professors could pull money out of their ass, but they can't, in reality we need to find a college that teaches OIL and GAS 101, because I wanna be a part of that money making world...

@mitchrapp225 im far from being rich, i don't use my financial aid because i save it, i plan to transfer to a university someday, but i cant afford it at this time. I made my choice to finish my lower division classes (calculus, physics, chemistry,biology) at my community college. Don't be mad at me because you made the choice of going directly to university without being prepared, and paying $226 per unit when u could have the same quality education at a community college for $26 per unit.
