Galway, Ireland. Filmed in November 2008. Thousands upon thousands of square metres of commercial space. All of it empty. Everybody is talking about the residential property crash while these buildings lay empty for years. Who is paying for this?
Commercial property is still seen as a sure investment by banks. Why? This is a very big elephant is dancing in the cupboard.

Music - Damian Dempsey. Celtic Tiger. Thanks Damo. I hope you don't mind me taking the liberty with your very appropiate song.

  • this is a really bad representation of how things are its a load scare mogering propaganda.if you look now way more buildings have tenants AND most of the building that are in this film HAVE been filled so really Galway is no worse than any other town of its size AND seeing as the city has a population of neer 90 thousend people i think we've done well to fill most of our empty houses. And who on Earth was in charge of the Music on this vid? they should be fired.

  • this vidoe captured a moment in time. At that moment in time all those buildings were empty. Do you really think we've filled most of our empty houses?

  • Limerick is way worse than this..the city is a practical ghost town!

  • It's so sad to hear. I saw a lot of empty property up in Dublin the other weekend too.

  • NAMA - Nil Aon Mouladh Agam!

  • Fuck Padraig Pearse, James Connolly, Michael Collins and the heroes of yesterday that shook off the yoke of J Bull shit next door for this beautiful fake handbag illusion. Paddy sold his soul and the dignity of generations of struggle for pathetic trinkets and cappuchinos and a future of enslavement to Moloch and the joonazi bankers that have infected the 2 party same agenda political whores that made Ireland as slick as ameriKa. Great song. Screw the yuppie scum that unleashed the celtic hyena

  • I have found it intriguing how so many UK posters seem to pay more attention to Ireland's recession while seemingly unaware (or in denial?) that their own country is in stagnation at bottom of the pile.

Ireland will rebuild because we love our country enough to do so.

    Do you?
