70s Fisher Price record player playing the Star Wars theme

My first attempt at a CNC milled Fisher Price record was Stairway to Heaven (see my other videos) and I thought I'd follow it up with the main Star Wars theme.

Whilst the plinky-plonky version is definitely recognisable, it does come up against the limits of what can be done. Some of the notes on the player are repeated on different tracks so that they can be played quickly. However, I needed to use some that aren't. You can hear when the music box trips over the repeated note and skips a little.

They're a little on the expensive side (about €32 for a single-sided disc or €42 for a double-sided) but this is just the production cost. I've not added any mark up.

They crop up on eBay fairly often, but aren't all that cheap. Don't get one of the newer "retro" versions. They're electronic and not the same thing as the original at all.

I had that record player when I was a child. What other songs you're planning to remake for the Fisher Price record player? You are a genius. If I were to do something like that, I would choose the chorus part of "The Greatest Love Of All" as a test run. But that's just me.
