In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 29km/h into a rigid pole.

wrong! i been riding motorcycles since i was 10 yrs old ive had several small sports car convertables now i have a miata and a chevy monte carlo i feel just as safe in th miata as the monte if you worry about everything that might happen to you in life you will never enjoy life so my freinds go out and enjoy life you dummy's lol somethings going to kill you i bet it won't be an automobile accident know matter what car you drive

@TraianusMaster People that buy cars not caring if they are safe or not are called motorcyclists. I love MX5's but im not driving anything that doesnt have a modicum of safety about it.

My heart bleed to see such a fine car being destroyed. Damn, why do they need to do that test ?! If someone buy this car - in fact any small roadster - doesnt really care if its safe or not.

@CrumpledHen Also the car is basically 21 years old. Although it had a face lift the chassis and all that is pretty much the same. Compared to other cars of that era, it's superb especially, as you said, considering it's a drop top.
