I absolutely embrace enviroschools. But exactly because of that I believe that there should not be anything like dedicated enviroschools. This should be incorporated into ANY curriculum. Many schools are already having their own environmental programmes, without any funding at all. I believe it is not correct that only selected schools benefit from extra funding. Split it up and share it for all. In saying so, our schools need more funding in general.

Yo slapjack - what's your deals!? It makes total sense to be educating future leaders about the intrinsic relationships we share with air, soil, & water - Enviroschools' has proven a far more effective form of learning than shitty conventional text books, and it solves real world community issues. Hence, it's exactly the thing the gov should be spending money on...

Yeah great video and I agree with all the other comments here.

Have to admit though that I am surprised surprised about this cut. This kind of decisions is the bread and butter of the National Party and is one of dozens that have already been announced that negatively affect education and the environment.

This is right on the mark, great effort ! It highlights just one more short-sighted budget cut that typifies National's blinkered head-in-the-sand philosophy. Are you listening, John, Bill, et al? Somehow i think not, but I would love to be surprised.

Thank you so much! I only hope National has the ears to listen.

But I have doubts that they will which is a shame. But even if they don't this video is a great effort and be proud to speak out.

Losing the EnviroSchools project would be a terrible shame. How does the government expect the next generation to learn how to become sustainable and to cherish our beautiful environment? Surely these skills could be combined with core skills to give a double benefit?

On the other hand, the planets a lost cause anyway. Lets spend the saving cuts on free cigarettes for school kids [playtime cut] - so they can enjoy their short lives all the more.

Great video. More important message. This sort budgeting does nothing for the long term future of NZ. Invest in kids they are our future.

Hope that the 200,000+ kids that attend an enviroschool write a comment here!
