Crescent Hawks: Inception

This is the first Battletech game on the PC. Released by Infocom/Westwood in 1988.

The story is about a young MechWarrior pilot by the name of Jason Youngblood. He starts out with a famous name in the Commonwealth because of the fame of his father. This gets him into a good MechWarrior training school and somehow audiences with the Archon, but unfortunately with the attack on the planet his father goes missing.

After the attack Jason's goal in life from there on is to reunite the Crescent Hawks and find clues about where his father might have been taken.

The game is extremely random, but for a game from 1988 it is not bad. The story line though is very linear. In many respects this games plot is extremely difficult to follow.

All of these videos will have some commentary to fix the monotony of the game. However, I know I am far from the best commentator, so bare with me please.

  • I thought that there was something wrong with the commentary, but you didn't say anything until about 7 min. into the video. :(

Aren't you supposed to be able to salvage enemy 'Mechs? All the ones I've seen you battle so far get destroyed. I know you come across a 'Mech later, but I won't spoil the surprise.

  • @Diamondfist1 Yeah this vid actually wasn't planned. Or rather I realized that the previous video was too long so i split it.

  • @Diamondfist1 As I understand it, you can only salvage an enemy mech after combat if you have more pilots than mechs.

  • @WavemasterAshi Hey, I said nothing about salvaging enemy 'Mechs AFTER blowing the fusion reactor. I know you can't salvage ones that are destroyed; there's no need to be snide.

  • @Diamondfist1 Salvaging a mech after you blow its fusion reactor? Good luck with that.
