I believe Georgeann was the closest to winning the $10,000 in the consolation round of the tournament.

Did the celebrity know before they played whether this was for $100,000 or not or did they wait until the host mentioned it.

If she had won the $100,000, she would have been the champion, therefore, she would not have any further plays. Contestants who won the $100,000 during those tournaments would automatically be done and go home with their winnings. Hope this helps.

@PedroGMan I like the "exact" double entendre: that was the winning category, as I recall, for Georgeanne. I, too, would love to see that bonus round again.

OK, thanks for filling in about that. Until now, I had been wondering if she made it back for the next tournament, but you clarified it for me. Thanks for the input. It's good to know that she had a great run on that program. She played a great game. I hope life is treating her well.

How come Georganne returned the next day? I didn't think you could return after a tournament was over. Anyway, thanks for posting this. I hope you can post more episodes from the Dick Clark era that is not being broadcast right now.
