Here you see my award winning, highly talented student Silke, 15 years of age, rehearsing and playing all the way through Wilhelm Popp´s "Hungarian Rhapsody" before a concert together with her accompanist Edward. She started lessons with me at age 10, always very dedicated and enjoys now great opportunities to play in youth orchestras and competitions. She wants to become professional.
Video shown here by kind permission of herself and her parents.

  • I am 12 now, do you think I can be like her in 3 years time? with my current skill.

  • Hello JSBHK!

I watched your uploads and I can see that you are very talented and you play very good considering your age. You do not write if you have a flute teacher, but I assume so. If you keep up your excitement about the flute and put a lot of time and energy into (intelligent) practising then I am sure you will make it in the music world. Tell me if I can be helpful for you.

  • I have some unique ideas about getting a clear, big and flexible sound in a very short time and also other very practical ideas to attack technical problems on the flute.

    Best wishes from Germany,

    Guenther Johannes Schmitz

  • well done! How old is she?

  • 15 years she counts

  • Great!! I'm 15, i'm playing this song but i can't do it faster as you O_O

    Very beautiful rhapsody...

Vive Popp et vive la flûte traversière!!

  • Úgy imádom *-* <3

  • Conratulation. You are very very ... good. Keep going on like this. This is your instrument. wish i can play like you. (just keep in mind to improve the very high and low tones, you can give them more tonality).

    thumbs up for this girl

  • Bravo! Very beautiful tone. This was one of the best flute solos I have ever heard. You are very talented and pretty!

  • @terrier126 : Actually, she moves very nicely - like a dancer - pleasant to watch. The actual playing is superb.

  • : O

  • Wow. Very good, and indeed very talented girl. I'll never be able to be like that with my (lack) of it.

  • A lot of excess tension in her hand;

the G sharp key finger is sometimes pulled way back from the flute.

The sound also is forced as well as the vibrato.

The music, for me is an example of the worst kind of Classical music.

Not interesting in the least; something a flute teacher assigns to show technique but not interesting musical ideas. Reminds me a Silent Movie music meant to keep the audience awake by poking at them.

So many great French pieces to chose from...or Bach.

  • That was amazing. I'm a Music Ed major and I play flute and was on here looking for something to play for my next recital performance and I was just blown away. That was GREAT!!! I think I found the piece. Thanks for the great recording :)

  • Awesome accompanist.
