Jogador Miguel Garcia sofre parada cardíaca em plena partida de futebol . Apesar de ficarem muito abalados os jogadores continuaram o jogo. Quase morre se não fosse o atendimento médico eficiente.

O uso de um desfibrilador salvou a vida de Miguel García, meio-campista do Salamanca, clube da segunda divisão espanhola. O atleta sofreu uma parada cardíaca em campo durante partida de seu time contra o Betis e foi atendido ainda no gramado. De acordo com os médicos das equipes, as consequências do acidente poderiam ter sido piores se o atendimento não tivesse sido rápido.
"O jogador voltou a viver, porque esteve morto por 20 segundos. Ao ver que estava em parada cardíaca, a primeira coisa que fizemos foi abrir a via aérea com um tubo. Uma vez aberta, o ar entrava, mas ele não respirava. Fizemos uma massagem cardíaca e tivemos que utilizar o desfibrilador duas vezes", explicou Ignácio Garrido, médico do Salamanca, ao jornal "El País". "Se tivéssemos demorado mais de três minutos teriam sido produzidos danos cerebrais pela falta de atendimento", completou Tomás Calero, do Bétis, o primeiro a atender García.
O estado do jogador de 31 anos é estável e ele pode deixar a UTI (Unidade de Tratamento Intensivo) ainda nesta segunda-feira. O Salamanca foi derrotado por 3 a 0 e está na quarta posição da segunda divisão do Espanhol. O Bétis lidera.
A Espanha tem um histórico de incidentes parecidos com o de García. Antonio Puerta, do Sevilla, morreu pouco depois de sofrer uma parada cardíaca em uma partida em 2007. No ano passado, o zagueiro Dani Jarque, do Espanyol, faleceu por problemas cardíacos no hotel em que se concentrava com sua equipe.
No Brasil, o defensor do São Caetano Serginho morreu em campo há seis anos em caso semelhante, dando início à polêmica sobre os desfibriladores. Segundo especialistas ouvidos na época, o jogador poderia ter sido salvo se tivesse sido prontamente atendido com o aparelho, o que só ocorreu mais de três minutos após a parada cardíaca.
Fim da carreira
Apesar de ter sobrevivido ao infarto sofrido no último domingo e estar se recuperando bem, Miguel García chegou ao fim de sua carreira como jogador profissional. Segundo informa o "El País", os cardiologistas do Hospital Clínico de Salamanca anunciaram que o meio-campista não poderá voltar a jogar futebol.

The use of a defibrillator saved the life of Miguel Garcia, midfielder of Salamanca, a Spanish second division club. The athlete suffered a cardiac arrest in the field during the match against Betis team and was assisted still on the lawn. According to team doctors, the consequences of the accident could have been worse if the service had not been fast.
"The player returned to life because he was dead for 20 seconds. Seeing that he was in cardiac arrest, the first thing we did was open the airway with a tube. Once opened, the air came in, but he was not breathing. We gave him a cardiac massage and had to twice use the defibrillator.", said Ignacio Garrido, MD, from Salamanca,to the newspaper El Pais. "If we had taken more than three minutes it would have been produced brain damage by lack of care," he said Tomas Calero, Betis, the first to help García.
The 31- year-old player is stable and he can leave the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) on Monday. Salamanca was defeated by 3-0 and is fourth in the Spanish second division. Betis leads.
Spain has a history of incidents like that of Garcia. Antonio Puerta, Sevilla, died shortly after suffering a cardiac arrest in a match in 2007. Last year, defender Dani Jarque, Espanyol, died of heart problems in the hotel where his team gathered.
In Brazil, Sao Caetano defender Serginho died on the field six years ago in a similar case, giving rise to controversy about defibrillators. According to experts, questioned at the time, the player could have been saved if he had been promptly treated with the device, which only occurred more than three minutes after cardiac arrest.
End of career.
Although he survived the heart attack he went into last Sunday, and he was recovering well, Miguel Garcia arrived at the end of his career as a professional player. According to reports the "El Pais", the cardiologists of the Clinical Hospital of Salamanca announced that the midfielder will not be able to get back to playing soccer.

i must say, i've seen this happen way too many times. one of the quickest responses i have seen in a crisis like this. probably saved his life. medical personnel did an amazing job that day.
