A three-alarm fire destroyed the top two floors of 46 Main Street yesterday evening, and likely severely damaged the home of Trends of Fashion Salon and Bakery 42.
The top two floors included six apartments that had been vacant and under renovation since being taken over by new ownership.
Shortly before 6 p.m., the fire broke out on an upper floor of the three-floor portion of the building. According to Joy Beauchamp, wife of Fire Chief Michael Beauchamp, the second two floors of the building have been destroyed. She said she was not hopeful that the bakery annex or first-floor business fared much better.
Its gone, its all gone, said Beauchamp. Its hard to keep a fully involved fire out of nearby structures. Then theres all the smoke and water damage.
WTF how can it be on da 2/8/2010 when it's only the 7th month
