Hundreds were reported dead.
Thousands were left homeless.
Billions worth of livelihood and possessions were destroyed. No one was spared, neither rich nor poor, famous or ordinary, all became a part of the statistics.
These were the glaring numbers recorded when typhoon "Ondoy", the worst storm to hit Manila in the last four decades attacked. In a span of six hours, many parts of the Metro and surrounding provinces were caught unprepared and were swallowed instantaneously by flood water.
Reporter's Notebook presents the tales and horrors of the tragedy and probes at what happened to the billions of funds, numerous projects and programs that were supposed to be in place in times of calamities. Was "Ondoy" an act of nature or was a tragedy waiting to happen?
