"The Shape of Life to Come" is the second track from Kink Ador's 2010 record titled "The Shape of Life." The song has a long musical introduction by guitarist Andrew Sovine on guitar, Drummer Brad Naylor on drums, and Sharon Koltick on trumpet, bass, and vocals.
The guitar textures are similar to the styling of Adrian Belew ( who played with Zappa, King Crimson, Talking Heads, David Bowie, Caifanes, and Nine Inch Nails). Belew is a big influence for Kink Ador guitarist Andrew Sovine, and the comparison is evident in the introduction during this live performance in Nashville, TN.
Sharon Koltick was inspired to write the song "the Shape of Life to Come" by "Serge Gainsbourg" and his spoken word vocal stylings. Sharon has said, "the groove of the song should be seductive; and Serge Gainsbourg had a way of building intense lyrics into a seductive instrumental piece, I wanted to do the same thing with "the Shape of Life to Come" song.
Kink Ador is known for their sophisticated grooves. The unique blend of Brad Naylor's tom-tom drums and the bass guitar make this song move.
The song was recorded by "The Record Shop" July 30th 2010 in Nashville, TN at the 12th and Porter club.
