Wow, this is really REAL art music (in the form of latin jazz), extremely capable players!

@SuperSaxy93 The concert was at the McDavid Studio in downtown Fort Worth.

Do you mean Denton? and I was there as well. It was definitely one of the most inspiring concerts I have ever attended.

Lyle is the absolute modern key hero!!!!

I saw Lyle a couple of weeks ago in Fort Worth for the UNT Jazz Studies guest series and his piano solo was the most beautiful thing I think I have ever heard. It was amazing. I think the title of it was "Mirror of the Heart."

lol...for those who didn't understand you, I totally get it! I play both as well, but true...Lyle Mays regarded as a pianist is kept so quiet. He's one of the best out there and people only acknowledge his PMG playing with is mainly synth work when padding the Pat Metheny sound. It's his solo work that only a true jazz/music lover can appreciate. I have all of his solo albums and love them all. but you have to love his synth work too...that's where his creativity soars above the rest. =]

Whaa! Brilliant. Lyle should never touch a synth again. His piano solo's are the best.

@JustAintthatWay The guy in the background is the main responsible for the depth of the music. If they all go up front it's flat and one dimensional. BUT it takes a great genius to find the necessary humility to lurk back there and make it meaningful!

when I was a teen I started listening to Metheny coz I loved his drummers. Then I heard Mays. I couldn't believe it. He makes all the rest make sense.
Lyle Mays in one of the best composers and pianist we have in jazz today!

Lyle Mays is incredible... what a melodic sense, what a block chords science!
I'm ok, we could have more tours and albums from mister Mays. He's one of the greatest in the WORLD.
