Great point! The universe didnt "have" to exist and cosmologists are scrammbling to come up with answers to the fine tuned universe. The universe is so delicately balanced in order not to burn itself out immediately or to swallow itself up in a huge black hole with just the right % of grvity, dark matter, etc. String theory asserts that if the universe have gazillion different configurations then it stands that ONE should be perfect for how we observe it and for life.

Here is where you can look at it equally both ways. There is science coming out to support design by the holographic universe theory. Based on gravity wave measurements and quantum observation as well as math and other observation. Its been proposed by Leonard Suskin who is a leading cosmologist who won the information universe debate with Hawkins regarding black holes etc. So its not totally unfounded in science to believe in design in this way as well as string theory, m theory, etc.

Skepticism is healthy and the only way to arrive at anything honestly. When it comes to a true spiritual life it isnt about proving the unknown. Its about what you find out thru experience. I really dont spend alot of time defending my beliefs. If there is a god I dont think it would lose sleep on what we believe or not. I have come to realize that there is value in introspective learning and being founded on a consistent philosophy of just being that is truly transformative.

It might have something to do with the blatant statement that you can't believe in evolution and be a Christian. That statement pretty much sets the stage for everything else he says to sound like BS.

Do you think that everyone who believes in God or is spiritual has to accept the Bible?? I don't, but I'm definitely spiritual.. I accept that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. . And that it matters what we do here on Earth, more than we can possibly fathom. Open you mind and your heart to what you could be my friend.. Atheism isn't the answer, I promise you. . There's so much more for us to discover, be a free-thinker, but don't think you know it all. You don't, nobody does.

I agree there as well Scott... The problem is that, atheists think that just because we have disproved ancient myths about God, that means there is no God.. that's simply not true.. The possibilities to our existence are endless. I myself am a Buddhist, but I also embrace the possibility of a Creator. I know we aren't here for no reason, and I see there's life after death. Lots of evidence to support that as well. NDE's and such. Atheists have to see everything. They have no faith.

Now here I agree with you, but only to a degree. . The point is, that here we are, two evolved humans, talking about our existence and the Universe around us. Now an atheist would have me believe, that's all by chance and there's no real reason/purpose to life.. Being a skeptic to a point myself, that makes absolutely no sense.. So, "nothing" expanded into everything and then go's to nothing again...And that's it., For no reason? No purpose?,. That's not logic. Think about it. Keep an open mind.

Faith explains much more than you think.. I used to be an atheist just like yourself. . Now of course I'm not a Christian or anything of the sort. But I know than we aren't here by accident. I know that the Universe didn't "have" to exist. We humans didn't "have" to exist. The mere fact that we are discussing our existence, should show you that there's more to this life than what we see. We don't know everything, so stop acting like you do. You don't know what happens when you die. Nobody does.

And yes I agree that the bible was written 2000 years ago in an ancient and primitive bronze age culture. We shouldnt get our morals from them!

Sorry if my comments lead you to believe Im a bible thumper! No I dont get morality from the bible. The atheist claim is based on a deterministic world view. There is no free will. So how can a guy that rapes and kills children be held accountable? They are victim to neural firings and a causal universe that unfolds the way it does. There is therefor no responsibility REALLY. It could then be argued that lack of free will negates any notion of morality or meaning in life unless we delude self
