The October 6, 2008 1st stage of the demolition project of the Bismarck, North Dakota Liberty Memorial Bridge, in service since 1922. Originally dedicated to troops from North Dakota who fought in WWI, the bridge was deemed out of date and replaced by the new four-lane bridgebuilt only yards to the south. Demolition is scheduled to conclude at the end of the month. All materials will be salvaged and re-cycled.

  • this is not a good job, they haven't pay attention on births protection...

  • @my1w i think they have tried since the thing was built to rid the bridge of those pidgeons and gulls, they keep coming back. already they have nests in the new bridge

  • my dad was there he worked on the new bridge in mandan-bismark so yea

  • MY dad did all the overpasses from bismarck to fargo on i-94 when it was under original construction.

  • I was born in Bismarck in 1967. I live in Arizona now. That bridge was the best whenever we crossed it going over to Midway Lanes in Mandan as a kid. You could hang your head out the window and look at the river below.  Wow, what memories! Of course, we didn't have to wear seatbelts back then. haha
