Disrespect to our local artistes and Hypocrisy on the Cultural Ministry part especially as they made it clear it was going to be a strictly local affair. The question arises, what happen to our local artistes tunes? eg: Mr. Killa's "Ivan" tune.... the "Tallpree Dance"? Those tunes would have been much more entertaining.....and Grenada speaks so much about Jamaican influence. I am not bashing Jamaican artistes or their music, but there is a time and place for everything and Grenada's Independence Day was not the time for "willie bounce".

  • 'jjcherryhill' the issue surrounding this matter had to do with the fact that the Cultural Ministry refused to grant work permits to a Jamaican & Bajan who was due to perform the Friday night at a privately owned club. Also, the independence was deemed as "strictly local" so when a Jamaican tune was played and danced to on our Independence day it sparked controversy because we have local artistes like Tallpree and Mr. Killa whose tunes the band could have used and danced to.

  • The performance was great, but what happen to the "strictly local" rule enforced by Sen. Arley Gill? Why bar Jamaican artiste "Left eye" & Bajan artiste "Red Plastic Bag" from performing in Grenada over the Independence weekend, but yet on Grenada's Independence day our Police Band is playing a Jamaican Dancehall tune? What happen to "Mr. Killa" Ivan tune? What happen to the "Tallpree Dance"? Isn't our LOCAL music good enough? Pure disrespect to our artiste hypocrisy on the Senator's part.
