  • @mrmjb1960 And they most certainly lived uo to the name

  • @Logoned "Cream" the name was thought by Clapton as an inside joke by the group..The tabloids kept calling them "The Cream of English Blues Bands",so,as a joke, they took the name, and the rest is history!

  • I don't think Clapton is better than Jimi, close, but not better. Jack Bruce however is better than Noel, and Ginger Baker is better than Mitchell. There is no I in team, and it's not just the guitarist that matters in the band, its all of the members. Jimi was better than Eric, but Cream was better than the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

  • WOW! From 4:25- 5:50 is probably the most sublime, in synch, ethereal music ever created. The tightness of the group, as they ply off of, with and together truly transcends ego's into the stratosphere.

They got it together for almost 1 1/2 minutes of transcendence as a collective one, tather than a combined trio.

    George

  • @jackgingeranderic, and @ Logoned: I agree with you totally up to the point where I have to choose Cream over Jimi; the problem being your conclusion that Cream was the only group that could do this. For a long time I thought so myself, but on a good night any well-rehearsed small band with talent, great improv skills and brains enough to leave their individual egos at home and go for it as one unit

can, given enough freedom; equal this in their own way. So, go hear some live music!

  • when this came out I bought it all those years ago and have not really listened to this album for about 40yrs BUT every note I can recall...thats a sign of music that embeds in your brain permanently...astounding, I also had about the same time soft machine Vol 2 after buying the 2 albums I was broke and my Dad lent me some pocket money as I blew my weekly wage frequently on LP's...lol
