This swimming sea cucumber uses bioluminescence to protect itself from predators. It is covered with bioluminescent particles that can stick to an attacker, making the predator highly visible and, therefore, vulnerable to larger visual predators. It is the same principle as the exploding paint packets placed in bank bags during robberies -- the paint marks the cash as well as the bank robbers for easy capture.
