My first ever locomotive from Heljan! Watch as I open this beautifully detailed and REALLY heavy class 58 in the striking EW&S, maroon livery from the period. The locomotive is superbly detailed, being the ONLY locomotive so far to come with pre-fitted realistic couplings and buffer beam accessories. With every Bachmann, Hornby and ViTrains model, I've had to fit such accessories myself.

More videos on this superb engine coming soon!

  • Wat dose EWS mean

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - English, Welsh and Scottish railway

  • I live in Newport, South Wales, so where can I get one of these locos because the Heljan website says "the search for 'EWS Class 58' returned 0 results". Please help! They look so good but I can't find one!!!

  • @istich123 - Try all over the Internet, so Hattons, Amazon, eBay, Trident Trains, Rails of Sheffield, Olivia's Trains and anywhere else you can find.

  • hey ive had it open like you said in the previous video and cleaned it and fitted a brand new chip but it sometimes stalls on points and i am usng insulfrog and electrofrog and even with fully electric frog points it stalls any reason why tahh and how can i improve its pickups without adding pickups to a wagon behind it

  • @pyronathanpyro - are you sure it's the loco and not the points or track surface? You need to check each part of the electricity supply really. So check the track is clean, check the points are conducting, check the wheels on the loco are clean, check there's no fluff or hair clustered around the pick-ups on the loco itself, and if after doing all that she still keeps failing there might be a problem with the loco. To check, get another loco and see how that performs. Then get back to me :)
