http://GoOrtho.net Large chronic rotator cuff tears are often retracted meaning that it is difficult reattach them normally. In this situation a "patch" of tissue can help to restore a more "normal" anatomy. Cadaver also known as allograft tissue can be used for this "patch". It can also be used in cases of poor tissue quality of the patient's rotator cuff. Most surgeons perform the technique with traditional open surgery through a large incision. Dr. Goradia describes his arthroscopic technique which requires a high degree of technical skill. --Vic Goradia, MD
