@crankyturkey Heineken don't own the McEwans or Youngers brands any more. They are owned by Wells & Youngs and canned and bottled production of McEwan's was moved to Bedford in England. In cans and bottles, no longer a Scottish ale I'm afraid They haven't been since Heineken closed the Edinburgh Brewery in 2004/5. :-(

In a MaClays Alloa ale glass... braw! MaClays fae the Thistle brewery in Alloa, Scotland was the finest pint you could get. The stuff now brewed by Sleemans in Canada is a typical Canadian lager and bears no resemblence to the real stuff. Real shame that the Alloa brewery closed. :-(

One of my favorite beers. I will continue to boycott Heineken for not exporting to the US. I hate them. :(. I am sad. Ok, I can't stand Heineken and never drink Heineken beers, but I will never ever try them again, just to see if my tastes have changed.

That was my all time FAVORITE!! Then Heineken bought the company and stopped importing it to the US. Grrrr :( . Try Oskar Blues 'Old Chub' - EXCELLENT!!!

Just tried this tonight...was quite surprised. A lot of butterscotch smell and quite a sweet taste, but whooo boy what a buzz...I didn't even realize the 8% until after I drank.
Your an idiot! Tastes like corn syrup, tastes like cough syrup... shut up

@abbotsfordstevetimm It's "you're" or "you are".

This is certainly one of the most unusual beers I've ever drank. It takes some getting used to. It's not what I'd call indicative of the typical Scottish beers I've had, ie. Belhaven. A good experience for those willing to seek out a new drinking experience.

@TheTestingGrounds It's really grown on me. I like it much more today than I did when I first reviewed it.
