Emotional Freedom Technique is a simple acupressure technique for releasing negative feelings.

You feel negative feelings in the body, so you have to go to the body to work on them.

You can release a negative feeling right now with this video. Tapping is very effective on helping with Depression, but bear in mind you may need to do a lot of tapping to become completely happy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How hard should I tap?
A: Tap lightly, just so that you feel it. The purpose of the tapping is to bring your attention to different parts of your body, it actually works if you just imagine tapping - as long as your attention is drawn to the right points.

Q: How can I be sure I am finding the right points?
A: Use two fingers to make sure you cover the points. Sometimes the point will 'feel' right, as if there is a slight indent in the skin or the point is particularly sensitive. It's all connected so you don't have to be 100% accurate.

Q: You have missed out points that Gary Craig teaches!
A: Yes. Feel free to tap those too, I left them out to keep the video simple and it seems to work fine without them. If you find the video doesn't work for you, try tapping the additional points - around the top-middle of the head, and just under the armpit.

Q: Is the sequence important?
A: No. You can tap the points in any order. In fact you only need to tap one or two of the points for each particular feeling. It's just you have no easy way to know which point so you might as well tap them all.

Q: I am a skeptic! / You are a charlatan!
A: Thanks. Tapping is perfectly explainable scientifically but it does go beyond most people's understanding. It really does work though, and the best way to prove that to yourself is to try it and watch your negative feelings disappear.

Also this video shows use of an electro-acupuncture pen to show that the points have a different electrical resistence to other parts of the body:

  • I had this kind of therapy ... well, the therapist kept asking me if and where I felt tension in my body ...

I don't know, am I disconnected or something? I usually don't really know (really don't know) 'where' I feel something...

Don't know if this tapping works for me, because the 'where do you feel it' part got me confused :P

Can't help but to wonder why many people seem to feel emotions with/in their bodies, and I don't, or am I just not paying enough attention or what?

  • You know how you feel butterflies in your stomach when you are nervous, or maybe shoulder tension when you are stressed? It's the same thing.

You can tap the being 'disconnected', it just means there are feelings stopping you feel the other feelings.

Persevere, a good therapist will have plenty of ways round not being able to feel where things are at first.

  • this made me feel noticably better and almost was a bit euphoric. however i doubt itll last long. and when im in the depressed mood, 23 hours a day, im in no condition to make myself do this. soo idk. but like, its totally worth it make no mistake. its hard to remember to do this when the thing that makes you think is broken due to depression. do your best. best of luck guyz.

  • This video actually works, started with a seven, ended up with a zero after watching twice.

  • Keep trying. I know that is hard to do when you are depressed have battled depression for years & am finally getting how to help myself the thing I do when I feel the worst is just 'fake it till you make it"when you are feeling blackest just go through the motions step by step sometimes I have to talk myself through every step like "ok, now I'm going to turn on the computer..ok now go to you tube..now find the tapping etc. Flaxseed oil has also helped me - take 2 tblsp daily regularily helps.

  • if felt my higher self and was over joyed quite strange but it works glad i tried it and i will continue to do what makes me feel better.sad thing is people with depression me included read something negative and it is learnt that way very effectively its much harder to focus on the positives but i try my best.so even if somebody says this was crap it didnt work for me please try as i believe trying will get us there in the end.keep going nothin is hopeless because i believe so its wot matters

  • Very interesting... It seems to work by making you focus all your thoughts on the tapping, instead of whatever was depressing you. It's hard to do this, and focus on other thoughts at the same time. Pretty cool.
