My Estonian Grandmother was raised in St. Petersburg Russia at the time this song was written, it became her favorite and she learned to play it on organ while attending school near the Hermatage on the Neva river. When she married my Grandfather, they moved to Gillette Wyoming to farm and raise their family, in the evening, Emma would play Oche Chyërnia on her old pedal pump organ. Then my father grew up and married my Mom, Hailie Morrison who has a gorgeous voice, so my grandmother and Mom-to-be started doing this song together. As a young child, this is a song that alway touched me deeply, actually there are two songs from my 2-6 year old years that excited me beyond description, Dark Eyes and the Brahms Hungarian Dance #5. Both have accelerating rhythms which remains a passion with me. I was so pleased when Dark Eyes finally showed up on my instrument. If that statement sounds a bit remote, that's because I let music do what it wants, when it wants as it does not seem to come from this place and it's magic is so delicate and fleeting, if you don't follow the flow, it's gone forever. I may be well schooled in music, but I have always let music have it's way, I just wanted to jump on the breeze of music as it flows by and follow along on these wonderful emotional journeys.
My grandmother loved music too, I would like to think that she also likes this rendering of our favorite song "Oche Chyërnia" or as translated: Dark Eyes.

@MetroStation8787 You ought to hear and see what my daughter is doing in Tokyo, she's creating stunning music that is the future of the genre, she has always been able to see where things are going. I'm of course really excited for her, and just 19 a couple of months ago. Look for Zhyldre or Eclipse Niikane.
