On Hardball Chris Matthews discusses Bush's final press conference with Ron Suskind and Howard Fineman and despite some criticism of Bush he fawns over hot "tough" he acted and carries the "Bush kept us safe from terrorist attacks" water which is absolute BS.

  • Leaving our armed forces depleted and demoralized.... way to protect the country dubya!!

  • Matthews brought it up, but didn't eleborate, that Bush/Cheney stampeded Congress into rubber-stamping the Patriot Act before the elections. What he forgot to remind people is that, conveniently, an envelope of anthrax powder was sent to Tom Daschle (D), which originated from a secret U.S. biological weapons lab which we denied existed before. Hmmm?

  • Not having a terrorist attack SINCE 9/11 is a triumph of keeping America safe, does the fact that 9/11 happenned in his watch not count for anything.

  • I can't believe Matthews ... Bush only admitted to staging his photo ops wrong. Thank god Suskind was there.

  • Give me a break--Bush screwed up on so many levels that there is no defense so like a child, rather than take any responsibility he's getting belligerent. He's one of the worst presidents ever so he's thrashing about, pointing fingers, trying to take responsibility for what DIDN'T happen and absolve himself of responsibility for what did.

  • What a screwed up argument from Bush, he messed up on 911, he was AWOL from the most important task entrusted to any president. I bet on sept 10 he did not know who Bin Laden was or what threat AlQaida posed.

  • matthews is so blinded by machismo it's ridiculous.

  • and it makes me sick as a european, and a german, who knows what this thinking leads to, that the us, the so called beacon if light for freedom, is willing to break with its moral founding, its essence, to bring some irrelevant xx % more security trough information obtained by torture.if i could get bin laden by torturing an 11 year old kid who tried to bomb something, because he was indoctrinated his whole life, should i do it??

  • if you tread your enemies differently than your own people, your not better than those you fight. its a little think called morals, of course you can torture youre prisoners, or even better, lets do some experiments on them, maybe they can after all be worth something to society.since their lower human beings whats wrong with it?

how far do you go on this road? and the majority of the worlds population agrees that the us have gone to far already, creatign an enclave were normal rules dont apply

  • If he was ACTUALLY "protecting the homeland" he be more popular. Instead, he was wrong about the best way to protect the country and we are screwed because of it.
