Antibes - Port Vauban and the Fort Carre' (1)

I returned to Antibes in the French Riviera for the first time in 20 years 3-11 September 2007. It was an emotional return to my family there and my old High School friends. 20 years...a long time to be away. I still cannot believe that I was stupid enough to let this happen. Here is a view of Port Vauban, probably Europe's trendiest Marina and, in the background, the Fort-Carre'. The fort, where Napoleon was jailed once, was built to defend the city and the port. It appeared in a few movies, most famously as the bad guy's house in the 1984 spin-off James Bond movie NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN starring Sean Connery, Barbara Carrera, Rowan Atkinson (before his Mr. Bean days) and a very young Kim Basinger.
