Thank you for the kind thought. I know I present it in a rather personal way, but Mike's passing was really felt by many. I like to think that we all prefer to celebrate how he lived rather than dwell on his loss.

To this day I still feel regret at retiring early and not being with you, Mike and all the other Firehawks in combat. I am truly honored to have served with you since your time in VP-0919 and HCS-5.

This video is a good tribute to Mike's honor and memory. The irony of it all is that the Firehawks never lost a member to combat but home turned out to be more lethal.

Mike was a friend of mine and a fellow US Navy Combat Aircrewman. We deployed to Iraq together twice. Shortly after returning home from his second deployment he was killed in a car accident.

This is a film he asked me to put together from video he shot during his first tour. I did the whole edit on his laptop, in Kuwait, using music available on the server out there. It was a challenge but we were happy with the result.
